The distinctive "swallowtail" dovetail joinery, where thin slices of wood are meticulously fitted together to form a seamless curve, is a hallmark of Shaker craftsmanship. Shaker design, which originated in America from the late 18th century to the early 20th century, is a style created by the Shaker people, who were derived from Christianity, in their daily lives.
